Collaborating with a small, high-ownership engineering team, you will take responsibility for meaningful product features from initial design through deployment and production support. You will work with modern technologies, including React, TypeScript, Node.js, Go, and AWS cloud services. This is an opportunity to strengthen your technical expertise, explore innovative cloud architectures, and make a direct impact on products used by hundreds of software companies worldwide. You will thrive in a collaborative, distributed environment that values curiosity, continuous learning, autonomy, and engineering excellence.
Accountabilities:
- Full-stack development: Build, enhance, and maintain product features across the frontend and backend, using React, TypeScript, Node.js, and Go to deliver reliable and scalable customer-facing experiences.
- Cloud infrastructure and backend engineering: Design, develop, and maintain backend services and cloud-native applications on AWS, leveraging services such as Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, EventBridge, SQS, Step Functions, ECS, and PostgreSQL.
- Marketplace integrations: Develop and maintain integrations with major cloud marketplaces, including AWS, Microsoft, and Google, ensuring accurate and reliable data exchange between external platforms and internal systems.
- Data processing and synchronization: Build and improve event-driven pipelines that process contracts, invoices, payments, and metered usage records. Ensure data remains consistent across downstream systems, search indexes, and CRM platforms.
- End-to-end feature ownership: Take responsibility for product initiatives throughout their lifecycle, from technical design and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance. Contribute to customer APIs, CRM integrations, and automated notifications when data changes.
- Product collaboration: Work closely with product managers and fellow engineers to define technical solutions and improve how marketplace billing, transaction, and usage information is modeled and presented to customers.
- Code quality and engineering practices: Participate in code reviews, write clean, testable, maintainable code, and contribute to technical standards and knowledge sharing within the engineering team.
- Continuous improvement: Explore new technologies, learn unfamiliar cloud APIs, and identify opportunities to improve system reliability, development workflows, and overall product performance. Leverage AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate development while maintaining high engineering standards.
- At least 2 years of professional experience developing full-stack web applications, with practical knowledge of both frontend and backend development.
- Professional experience with React and TypeScript, or strong JavaScript/TypeScript proficiency combined with the ability to work effectively in a TypeScript-focused codebase.
- Hands-on experience deploying and maintaining applications on AWS, particularly serverless services such as Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB.
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures and distributed systems, including technologies such as EventBridge, SQS, Step Functions, or DynamoDB Streams, is considered an asset.
- Experience working with external APIs, integrating third-party platforms, and transferring, transforming, and synchronizing data across multiple systems.
- Understanding of data consistency and integration workflows, including maintaining synchronized search indexes and CRM records.
- Comfortable using AI-powered development tools, particularly Cursor, to support coding, debugging, and productivity.
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability, with the ability to independently manage technical tasks and drive projects forward in a small engineering team.
- Intellectual curiosity and a growth mindset, with the willingness to explore unfamiliar technologies, ask questions, and understand how individual contributions fit into broader system architecture.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, combined with attention to detail and a commitment to writing reliable, production-ready code.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working with distributed teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Adaptability and enthusiasm for working in a dynamic environment where engineers have significant autonomy and opportunities to influence product development.
- Competitive salary: Annual base salary ranging from CAD $100,000 to $120,000, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
- Performance-based compensation: Potential eligibility for additional performance-related bonuses.
- Comprehensive benefits: Access to a broad employee benefits package.
- Remote flexibility: Remote-friendly working environment, with opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across different locations.
- Modern technology stack: Hands-on experience with React, TypeScript, Node.js, Go, AWS, and event-driven cloud architectures.
- AI-powered development: Opportunities to work with advanced AI coding tools, including Cursor, as part of everyday engineering workflows.
- Meaningful ownership: Responsibility for significant product areas, with direct visibility into how your contributions impact customers and business operations.
