Job description

Fleetway is building the crew model for the Royal Canadian Navy’s next generation warship, the River Class Destroyer (RCD). This is a rare opportunity to directly influence how ships are crewed, structured, and sustained for decades to come.

As a Jr. Data Analyst (Crewing), you will support the development of reliable data assets that help teams make informed decisions, improve processes, and solve complex business challenges. Working alongside experienced analysts and subject matter experts, you will contribute to the collection, organization, validation, and analysis of data while building foundational skills in data management, reporting, and automation.

In this role, you will help answer critical questions such as:

  • How do we ensure data is accurate, organized, and accessible?
  • What insights can be uncovered to support better business decisions?
  • How can data processes be improved to increase efficiency, consistency, and traceability?

Your work will directly influence how data is used across Fleetway, how information supports business decisions, and how reliable and accessible data assets remain over time. The decisions you contribute to will be built into a once-in-a-generation shipbuilding program, connecting your experience to long-term national capability.

  • Collect, clean, organize, and maintain data from multiple sources to support reporting and analytical activities.
  • Prepare and manage structured datasets, ensuring accuracy, consistency, traceability, and proper documentation.
  • Perform routine data validation, quality assurance, and reconciliation activities to identify and resolve data issues.
  • Execute repeatable data processing and transformation workflows using tools such as Microsoft Excel and Power Query.
  • Maintain standardized file structures, naming conventions, and documentation practices.
  • Support the preparation of datasets for analysis, reporting, and business decision-making.
  • Conduct basic data analysis and generate summaries, tables, charts, and other reporting outputs under guidance.
  • Assist with the documentation and communication of analytical findings and reporting results.
  • Maintain clear records of datasets, processes, and workflows to support repeatability and knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of data management standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance data quality, efficiency, and consistency through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to support data-related projects and operational requirements.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management, Business Analytics, or a related field.

Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in data preparation, data management, reporting, or analytics-related activities.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel for data organization, validation, and analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with large datasets.
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Exposure to Power Query, Power BI, SQL, or similar data tools would be considered an asset.
  • Experience working with data validation, reporting, or data quality processes would be considered an asset.
