Job description

Relay is a digital banking platform that gives self-made business owners the tools and know-how to be great with money—bringing clarity, confidence, and control to every dollar earned, so they can turn hard work into lasting success. We do this by replacing financial guesswork with real visibility, transforming cash flow from a constant source of stress into a clear signal owners can use to run stronger, more resilient businesses.

We’re looking for a Marketing Operations Manager to help power Relay’s next stage of growth! You’ll sit at the intersection of Marketing and Sales—turning data, insights, and automation into smarter decisions, scalable growth, and helping acquire new SMB customers and partners.

You’ll own and optimize our marketing technology stack, with HubSpot at its core, building the systems, processes, and reporting that give our teams the visibility they need to make impactful decisions. From improving marketing performance to accelerating top-of-funnel growth across our Direct and Accountant & Bookkeeper channels, you’ll play a critical role in how we acquire new SMB customers and partners.

This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership, solve complex challenges, and make a meaningful impact on how Relay grows and scales.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Marketing Operations Strategy: Own and prioritize marketing operations initiatives that drive top-of-funnel growth across our Direct SMB and Accountant & Bookkeeper channels. Define clear success metrics, balance customer impact with business value, and proactively adjust strategies based on performance

  • Marketing Technology: Own and optimize our marketing technology stack, with HubSpot at its core, including workflows, lead lifecycle management, lead scoring, and reporting to support scalable growth

  • AI & Automation: Build, deploy, and manage AI agents and automations in production to streamline top-of-funnel operations, including lead routing, enrichment, and follow-up

  • Systems & Process Improvement: Lead system enhancements and process rollouts end-to-end, removing blockers, driving adoption, and building scalable processes that improve operational efficiency

  • Marketing Attribution & Analytics: Build multi-touch attribution models to understand the customer journey and measure marketing effectiveness. Define KPIs, develop dashboards and reporting, and implement tracking infrastructure to measure campaign and event performance

  • Funnel Optimization & Performance: Analyze marketing and sales performance to identify friction points, uncover growth opportunities, and address root causes. Translate data and trends into actionable recommendations that improve funnel performance and drive measurable results

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build trusted partnerships with Marketing, Sales, and leadership to align priorities, communicate recommendations, and drive informed decisions. Create clear documentation and scalable processes that support knowledge sharing and cross-functional alignment

Who You Are

  • You have 4+ years of experience in an operations role within a data-driven environment, ideally in a high-growth B2B SaaS or fintech company

  • You have hands-on experience with HubSpot as a marketing automation platform, including workflows, reporting, and CRM/Marketing Hub administration

  • You are proficient with CRM platforms and integrations (Salesforce, Iterable), sales productivity tools (Outreach, Gong), and enrichment providers (Clay, ZoomInfo)

  • You have experience leveraging AI tools, with a proven track record of building agents and automations that solve real operational challenges

  • You thrive in a hands-on role, balancing attention to detail with the ability to think strategically and see the bigger picture

  • You have a passion for process improvement, with the ability to analyze complex data, identify patterns, and translate business objectives into actionable quarterly strategies

  • You are a strong communicator who thrives in cross-functional environments and can translate complex information into clear, actionable insights

Bonus Points

  • You have experience building RevOps infrastructure from the ground up or scaling operations in a high-growth environment

  • You have experience with go-to-market (GTM) strategies that combine product-led growth (PLG) and sales-assisted motions

  • You have worked with SMBs in North America

The Interview Process

  • Stage 1: A 30-minute Google Meet video call with a member of the Talent team

  • Stage 2: A 45-minute Google Meet video call with the Director, Revenue Operations

  • Stage 3: A 30-minute Google Meet whiteboard session with the team

  • Stage 4: A take-home case study followed by a 60-minute Google Meet video call with the team

  • Stage 5: A 45-minute in-person interview with a member of the Leadership team

Our Compensation Approach

We believe Relayers should feel rewarded for the impact they have on our mission and growth. Compensation follows impact. As impact increases, compensation grows, and we do not limit compensation changes to a once-a-year review cycle.

The annual salary range for this role is $112,500 CAD to $137,500 CAD.

For candidates who demonstrate full readiness for the defined scope of the role, the typical starting salary is $125,000 CAD. Offers below this point reflect candidates we believe can grow into the full scope of the role with support and development. Offers above this point reflect impact that meaningfully exceeds the role’s defined expectations or an expanded scope from day one.

We encourage you to have a conversation with your recruiter and ask questions about compensation throughout the hiring process. For more information on our compensation philosophy and perks and benefits, visit our Candidate Hub.

Why Relay Might Be the Perfect Fit For You

  • You push relentlessly for reinvention: You're always asking "how can this be better?" -- in your work, in your craft, in yourself. Comfort is a signal to push harder, not coast. You'd rather build something better than defend something familiar.

  • You crave autonomy: We trust our team with big challenges and the freedom to solve them. If you’re someone who takes initiative, is comfortable taking risks, and seeks input when needed, you’ll find the freedom here empowering.

  • You own your work: You take pride in your work, follow through on commitments, and feel a deep sense of responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks.

  • You build with AI, not just use it: You're actively embedding AI into how you work, pushing what's possible, and bringing your team along with you.

  • You care about impact, not noise: You care deeply about the substance of your work. You measure success by results, not recognition, and you let your work speak for itself.

  • You’re energized by complexity and ambiguity: You enjoy tackling problems that don’t come with a playbook. You’re comfortable building from scratch, iterating as you go, and collaborating to shape the best path forward.

  • You seek out feedback: You see directness as respect, not criticism. You actively seek input, sit with hard truths, and use feedback as fuel for improvement.

  • Small businesses are why we're here: Relay exists to help them thrive -- and that mission has to resonate with you.
