  • Support the year-end audit, tax compliance for SCU and its subsidiaries, and monthly and annual credit union regulatory requirements.
  • Document, test and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting, and help close control gaps and audit findings.
  • Lead or contribute to special projects, process improvements and system implementations.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field, plus 4 to 6 years of progressive accounting experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered based on the candidate’s skills, education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices, financial reporting and IFRS.
  • Strong working knowledge of corporate taxes, GST/HST, RST and related requirements.
  • Proficiency with Great Plains or other mid- to large-scale accounting software, and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong financial analysis skills and the ability to think critically and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance colleagues.
  • A collaborative, curious and adaptable approach, with a commitment to quality, accuracy and compliance.
