Job description

At Kabam, we’re constantly raising the bar of excellence in free-to-play gaming. We hire for passion and diversity so that we can triumph in our collective skill. Our teams are made up of a fusion of personalities and interests bound together by a collaborative nature, fun-loving culture, and a drive to do what it takes to make great games. And this is where you come in…

As a Senior Publishing Product Manager, you will work across a broad range of projects, supporting the full product lifecycle from early opportunity discovery through development and launch.

For internal projects, you will support the new product discovery process through market trends and research, identifying comparable titles for both product and marketing purposes, and assessing market-product fit to help teams make informed product decisions.

For external projects, you will provide data, market research, and competitive insights to help the Principal Publishing Product Manager and the team to identify and evaluate new opportunities. This includes creating reports on the business potential and marketability of each product, supporting the creation of financial and revenue forecasts, and contributing to the execution of product, publishing, and marketing strategy.

Working closely with the Principal Product Manager, you will help shape the strategic direction of projects, from opportunity assessment and product positioning through go-to-market planning. You will work cross-functionally to align teams around priorities, strategy, and key objectives.

Importantly, this role is not limited to assessing opportunities and developing strategy. You will also work directly with the team to execute against the strategy and see projects through the full development and launch cycle, using market insights and performance data to inform decisions and optimize outcomes along the way.

The role ultimately sits at the intersection of market intelligence, product strategy, commercial assessment, marketing, and execution, with the goal of identifying the right opportunities and turning them into successful products for both players and the business.

This role is a full-time, on-site position based 5 days a week at our Downtown Vancouver studio.

In this role, you can expect to:

    Key Accountabilities:

    New Product Discovery

  • Conduct market analysis, competitive research, and business analysis to identify trends and potential new product opportunities, within the strategic areas the team has defined.
  • Partner with the Research & Insights team to gather and apply user research that informs product direction.
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders (Design, Finance, Marketing, Product, Player Insights) to assess feasibility of new product concepts.
  • Build business cases for specific product opportunities, including market sizing, value proposition, and financial projections, for review by leadership.
  • Track progress of assigned discovery initiatives against established success metrics.
  • Prepare and hand off prioritized opportunities and supporting documentation to dedicated product teams.
  • Publishing Execution

  • Develop go-to-market strategy and plans by analyzing successful comparable titles and marketing strategies, working closely with the Principal Publishing Product Manager to translate market insights into actionable plans.
  • Maintain ongoing competitive intelligence by continuously tracking new and emerging comparable titles across external publishing projects, providing regular updates and analysis to inform product and marketing decisions.
  • Support creation of the product roadmap by developing a deep understanding of development milestones, assessing product, development, and market risks and recommending mitigation strategies where needed.
  • Conduct milestone-based product reviews with the broader Publishing team, evaluating product progress against market comparables and providing insights and recommendations to strengthen the product.
  • Coordinate cross-functional execution across publishing partners to track milestones, budgets, product goals, and key deliverables, ensuring projects remain aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external studios, working closely with development teams to establish effective communication, resolve pain points, and support a smooth publishing and development process.
  • Partner with Business Development to identify and develop platform partnership opportunities that can support the product's growth, visibility, and commercial performance.
  • Ensure cross-functional readiness and alignment by communicating product updates, roadmap changes, launch milestones, and marketing beats across BD, Legal, Finance, Marketing, PRM, QA, and other relevant teams.
  • Monitor post-launch performance and proactively identify risks, performance gaps, and opportunities for improvement, escalating key insights and recommendations to the publishing team.

To be successful in this role, your background includes:

  • A university degree or master’s in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Product Management, Marketing, or a related field required.
  • 5+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Marketing Management, or similar roles, in gaming
  • 2 or more shipped games in a Product Management role, preferably on Steam, with demonstrable market impact.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience mentoring and developing high-performing teams
  • Strong analytical mindset with ability to synthesize market and player data into recommendations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to present data and insights persuasively
  • Passion for games and experience playing a variety of titles across PC and/or console.
  • Strong understanding of what makes games compelling, with the ability to evaluate products from both a player and market perspective.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability, with the ability to hit the ground running, independently drive high-priority initiatives, and deliver results in a fast-moving environment.
  • Comfortable operating in an ambiguous environment, bringing structure to complex problems and driving toward clear decisions and actionable solutions.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create and deliver compelling presentations for a wide range of audiences.
  • Able to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
  • Brings a fresh perspective and is willing to challenge established thinking when the evidence suggests a better path forward.
  • Strong attention to detail
