Job description

What does a sense of humour have to do with accounting?

At Facet, everything.

Are you also a team player? Do you love to WOW your clients and colleagues? Is thinking outside the box second nature to you? And – do you show up with your best effort, no matter what’s on your plate?

If the answer is a huge YES, we need to talk!

We are looking to onboard our next Assurance Manager to our team of customer-centric CPAs who thrive on creating the best experiences possible for our clients and our team.

Who You Are

  • Versatile and resourceful – You find ways over, around or through barriers to success

  • A problem-solver with “common-sense smarts” – You match a practical approach to sophisticated situations (and do it with ease)

  • Customer-centric – You strive for service excellence in everything you do

  • Able to bring ideas to life – You take a concept or thought and make it happen

  • Hungry to learn – You have a strong appetite for learning, and are a quick study

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Prepare and/or review assurance and non-assurance engagements and projects

  • Prepare and/or perform initial review of corporate, personal, and estate tax returns

  • Stay current on the accounting, assurance, quality control and ethical standards applicable to the client base, including recent changes to standards

  • Provide consultations to clients on various accounting, payroll and similar matters

  • Provide practical solutions to clients through real-world business smarts and experience

  • Work independently on special assignments

  • Begin to develop and build on new business opportunities with existing clients, and continually maintain a positive client relationship

  • Provide coaching and mentorship to junior staff, fostering their professional development through regular feedback and guidance to enhance their skills and knowledge

  • Participate in interviews and assist in the selection of new talent during recruitment periods

  • Share knowledge with peers to develop professional skills and improve service delivery

  • Provide a stable, flexible environment that is grounded in teamwork and supports personal and professional development

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A Canadian CPA designation, (any legacy), with minimum 1-3 years post-designation experience

  • Sound technical knowledge of ASPE and experience performing and/or leading review engagements

  • Exceptional communication skills; both written and verbal

  • Proven people influencing and leadership ability

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships

  • Experience working within tight deadlines with multiple priorities

  • Experience working in a high-growth or entrepreneurial environment

  • Positive and proactive attitude

  • A self-directed learning philosophy, always staying on the cutting edge of best practices

  • A great sense of humour and enthusiasm

Why Work With Us

  • Client Facing from Day 1 – You won’t be hiding behind a desk or colleagues.

  • Flexible Work Arrangements – It’s about how we work, not just where, so you can balance a quality career with a quality life.

  • The Entrepreneurial Spirit Lives Here! – Like our clients, we understand the challenge and risk in the pursuit of a new business opportunity, and take time to relish the rewards.

  • It’s About Our People – We aren’t big on closed doors or office politics. We have built a positive work environment and want to understand what motivates you.

  • Room for Fun - From team celebrations for victories and milestones to regularly kicking back on the pickleball court or the fairway, we focus on creating a place people enjoy coming to.

  • Continued Education – When you look good, we look good. We make it a priority to support continuous learning at all levels and set a clear path for career advancement opportunities.

  • Compelling Compensation – We offer opportunities to earn more through performance bonus and referral programs. Ask us about our Summer-Nine!

Work hard and work smart with creative and motivated teammates who believe work should not be your life, but rather a means for enjoying it!
