The Opportunity

We are looking for a Manager, Platform Engineering to lead a team building the reusable foundation behind Planview’s Platform and Intelligence strategy. You will help shape an internal platform product that gives engineering teams secure, self-service paths for building, deploying, observing, and operating software.

Reporting to the Director, Platform Engineering, you will play a key role in executing the Platform Engineering vision, scaling platform capabilities, and enabling engineering teams through secure, self-service, and reusable solutions.

This is a people-leadership role with meaningful technical influence. You will create clarity in an ambiguous, high-impact space; help the team make sound architecture and prioritization decisions; and build a culture where engineers can move quickly without compromising security, reliability, compliance, or customer value.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, coach, and develop a diverse team of platform engineers across career stages and geographies.
  • Establish a clear team mission, roadmap, priorities, and success measures for platform adoption, developer experience, and team outcomes.
  • Translate platform strategy into actionable roadmaps, priorities, and execution plans.
  • Build and evolve golden paths for service creation, delivery automation, secure identity and networking, observability, policy-as-code, and other shared engineering capabilities.
  • Partner with Product Management, Architecture, Security, Data Science, and Application Engineering leaders to turn common needs into reusable platform products rather than one-off solutions.
  • Guide technical decisions across cloud infrastructure, developer tooling, service platforms, and AI-enabled engineering workflows.
  • Drive adoption of platform capabilities through self-service experiences, developer feedback, usage insights, and measurable outcomes.
  • Establish platform guardrails and governance that enable teams to move quickly while maintaining security, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Create the conditions for healthy ownership through clear boundaries, production readiness, incident learning, and sustainable on-call practices.
  • Identify delivery risks and trade-offs early, communicate options clearly, and help the team make timely decisions.
  • Balance developer productivity, reliability, security, operational cost, and long-term platform sustainability.
  • Improve how the team plans, delivers, measures, and learns while keeping engineers connected to customer and business outcomes.
  • Mentor engineers and emerging leaders, support career growth, and build a culture of inclusion, trust, and accountability.
  • Expected Salary: 135,000 -165,000 CAD

What You'll Bring

  • Experience leading and developing software or platform engineering teams, including distributed or cross-functional teams.
  • Recent technical experience with cloud-native software, developer platforms, infrastructure automation, distributed systems, or related engineering domains.
  • A product mindset: you understand internal developers as customers, prioritize their highest-value problems, and measure whether the platform is improving their experience and outcomes.
  • Experience using data and metrics to guide platform investment, prioritization, and continuous improvement.
  • The ability to engage deeply in technical discussions without taking ownership away from the engineers closest to the work.
  • Experience balancing delivery, reliability, security, compliance, operational cost, and long-term maintainability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt to engineers, product leaders, and executives.
  • A demonstrated commitment to coaching, feedback, psychological safety, and inclusive team practices.

What gives you an edge

  • Experience building internal developer platforms, platform-as-a-product capabilities, or paved-road engineering experiences.
  • Experience with AWS or another major cloud provider, containers and orchestration, infrastructure as code, GitOps, CI/CD, and observability.
  • Familiarity with policy-as-code, identity and access management, service catalogs, developer portals, platform governance, or platform adoption metrics.
  • Experience using platform telemetry, developer insights, and adoption metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Experience with cloud cost optimization, FinOps, or engineering economics.
  • Experience enabling responsible use of generative AI, coding assistants, agents, or other automation in software delivery.
  • Experience embedding security, compliance, and auditability into engineering workflows by design.

How we work
Build for reuse: We create paved roads, shared capabilities, and self-service tools that make the secure path the easiest path.

Own the outcome: Engineers participate across design, build, deploy, operate, and improve. Ownership comes with team support, shared standards, and follow-the-sun collaboration, not heroic

Measure what matters: We use adoption, reliability, and developer experience metrics to guide decisions and continuous improvement.

Use AI responsibly: AI-assisted development can accelerate delivery, but the quality bar does not change. If you ship it, you can explain it, test it, debug it, and support it in production.

Work across boundaries: The best platform and intelligence solutions are shaped with product teams, Data Science, and the people who use them.

Enable autonomy through guardrails: We provide standards, governance, and automation that help teams move quickly while maintaining security, compliance, and operational excellence.
