Mercury is revolutionizing finance for startups by building a complete, user-friendly banking* stack. It turns out, this requires a lot of talented people, so we’re looking to add a Senior Recruiter to our team to hire exceptional Infosecurity, Compliance, Risk, and Data Governance professionals who will help shape Mercury’s next stage of growth.
As a member of our growing recruiting team, you’ll partner directly with leaders across these functions to own full-cycle recruiting for work that is foundational to Mercury’s ability to operate and scale. You’ll serve as an embedded strategic partner with the teams you support: define specialized profiles, navigate nuanced talent markets, and build teams that protect Mercury, our customers, and the broader financial ecosystem.
These searches rarely come with a straightforward playbook. You’ll use creative sourcing, thoughtfully craft interview processes for first of their kind roles, and leverage market insights to find candidates whose experience spans disciplines—and help them understand the impact they can have at Mercury.
*Mercury is a fintech company, not an FDIC-insured bank. Banking services provided through Choice Financial Group and Column N.A., Members FDIC.
Here are some things you’ll do on the job:
- Own full-cycle recruiting for technical and analytical roles across teams like Risk Strategy, Compliance Data Modeling and Analytics, and Information Security, with flexibility to support engineering and broader Compliance and Risk searches.
- Develop a deep understanding of Mercury’s products, business model, and risk and regulatory environment to connect hiring priorities to the needs of the business.
- Partner with hiring managers to define success, distinguish essential technical and domain expertise from skills that can be learned, and design thoughtful interview processes.
- Build targeted sourcing strategies for niche talent pools, including candidates whose backgrounds span data science, analytics, security, engineering, and financial services.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to hiring leaders, using talent mapping, market insights, and recruiting data to inform hiring decisions and calibrate expectations.
- Build lasting relationships with candidates and communicate a compelling, tailored story about their potential impact at Mercury.
- Champion inclusive hiring practices and guide interview teams toward consistent, evidence-based decisions.
- Lead recruiting efforts for new and evolving roles, bringing structure to ambiguous searches and adapting your approach as you learn.
- Use recruiting data to identify bottlenecks, strengthen pipelines, and improve hiring outcomes and candidate experience.
- Flex across teams and role types as business priorities shift, bringing the same curiosity, urgency, and care to each search.
You should:
- Have 4+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience and 5+ years of overall experience in a talent, people, or HR-equivalent function.
- Have a track record of hiring for technical or quantitative roles in areas such as compliance analytics, data science, information security, or related functions.
- Have direct experience recruiting for compliance and risk teams within fintech or financial services, with an understanding of how domain knowledge and regulatory requirements shape these searches.
- Be comfortable learning technical concepts, discussing candidate backgrounds with specialized hiring teams, and translating complex requirements into effective sourcing and assessment strategies.
- Be willing and able to take on engineering searches when needed, including information security engineering roles. Prior experience recruiting engineers is a plus.
- Have experience partnering with senior leaders and executives, influencing hiring decisions, and serving as a trusted advisor throughout a search.
- Bring strong sourcing and networking skills, including the ability to build pipelines for specialized, emerging, or confidential hiring needs.
- Enjoy creative problem solving, navigating ambiguity, and balancing competing priorities across different functions and role types.
- Lead with empathy, kindness, and care, and enjoy building diverse, inclusive, and high-performing teams.
- Communicate clearly and precisely, with a strong sense of urgency and ownership.
- Look for ways to improve your workflow through thoughtful use of data, automation, AI and process improvements.
- Have experience using recruiting tools such as LinkedIn Recruiter, Greenhouse, Gem, Ashby, Metaview, or similar.
