  • Support staff development, resolve day-to-day operational challenges, and foster a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and safe work practices.
Fleet Asset Management & Capital Planning
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a Fleet Economic Theory of Replacement Lifecycle Model to support informed decisions regarding fleet utilization, maintenance costs, replacement timing, and overall asset performance.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of 10-year capital renewal and growth plans, using lifecycle data, operational requirements, and financial analysis to support fleet replacement and expansion decisions.
  • Monitor fleet utilization, fuel consumption, maintenance expenditures, and asset performance, and support operating budget forecasting and the identification of cost-saving opportunities and sustainable fleet solutions.
Procurement, Inventory & Vendor Management
  • Coordinate the procurement of parts, tools, equipment, shop supplies, and fleet-related services in accordance with City policies, approved budgets, and purchasing requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels, maintain accurate records, and ensure essential parts and materials are available to support timely maintenance and repairs.
  • Support business cases for vehicle and equipment acquisition, major repairs, and replacement or disposal decisions, and maintain effective working relationships with vendors and service providers.
Shop Management & Service Delivery
  • Oversee the daily operation of the Fleet Services maintenance shop, including the allocation of service bays, shop space, tools, equipment, and other resources to improve workflow, safety, and productivity.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient shop environment and ensure tools, equipment, and service bays are maintained in good working condition.
  • Maintain accurate work orders, maintenance records, fleet management system information, and parts inventory records, and identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes and service delivery.
Health, Safety & Regulatory Compliance
  • Promote and support the implementation of the City’s Health & Safety Program, ensuring fleet activities comply with applicable occupational health and safety legislation, commercial vehicle requirements, environmental regulations, and City policies.
  • Ensure staff follow safe work procedures, use appropriate personal protective equipment, and handle hazardous materials, waste, and shop fluids in accordance with established requirements.
  • Coordinate inspections, identify and address workplace hazards, investigate and report incidents, and implement corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment and reliable fleet operations.
What YOU Bring:
