We build Ververica Unified Streaming Data Platform, an enterprise-grade platform for real-time data on top of Flink. Backed by one of the world's largest tech companies, we combine open-source innovation with long-term stability.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
Our customers run real-time pipelines that cannot stop: fraud detection, payments, telemetry, recommendations. When something breaks, you are the engineer who gets it running again.
As a Technical Support Engineer, you will solve real production problems on Kubernetes, in the cloud and inside Flink itself. You will work side by side with the engineers who build Flink, so every hard ticket is a chance to learn how a distributed system works under the hood.
This role suits someone who enjoys a good puzzle, likes helping people and wants to grow into a stream processing expert.
WHAT YOU BRING
- 2+ years in technical support or a similar hands-on role, ideally with cloud-based products.
- Solid knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud).
- Practical experience with containers and Kubernetes. Our product runs on Kubernetes, so this matters.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. You enjoy finding out why something fails.
- Clear written and spoken English, and the patience to explain technical ideas to any audience.
- A customer-first mindset and the ability to stay calm when a customer is under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team.
- Curiosity and a drive to keep learning.
- A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
NICE TO HAVE
No one ticks every box. If you have some of these, tell us.
- Experience with stream processing, Apache Flink or Apache Kafka.
- Scripting or programming skills in Shell, Python, Java or SQL.
- Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Experience with cloud monitoring and observability tools.
- Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Azure Administrator.
LOCATION AND WORKING HOURS
This is a remote role for someone based between UTC-4 and UTC-7. That covers US and Canadian Eastern, Central, Mountain and Pacific time, plus Latin American countries in the same range.
- Your core hours follow customers' business day in the Americas.
- You will work closely with our EMEA support team to give customers follow-the-sun coverage.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Be the first technical point of contact for customers using Ververica Unified Streaming Data Platform.
- Diagnose and fix issues across the stack, from Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure to Flink jobs, connectors and SQL.
- Reproduce tricky problems, dig through logs and metrics, and find the root cause.
- Escalate to Engineering and Product with clear, well-documented cases, and help shape fixes and product improvements.
- Explain solutions and best practices clearly to engineers and non-technical stakeholders alike.
- Keep accurate records of cases and resolutions in our ticketing system.
- Turn what you learn into knowledge base articles, tutorials and runbooks that help customers and teammates.
- Keep sharpening your skills in cloud technologies and stream processing, and share them with the team.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive compensation: salary, equity and performance bonus
- Remote-first culture with flexible hours
- Direct access to Flink core developers and a global open-source community
- A clear path to grow into senior support, Technical Account Manager or engineering roles
- Generous vacation, personal leave and wellness benefits
At Ververica, we believe innovation starts with diverse perspectives. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds. If you are passionate about helping customers succeed with real-time data, we would love to hear from you.
