As our vessels and terminals become increasingly connected, and we adopt modern platforms powered by advanced analytics and artificial intelligence, we’re looking for forward-thinking leaders and talented professionals who are excited by what’s possible. People who not only embrace innovation, but who also know how to build, inspire, and empower teams to turn vision into reality.
If you thrive in complex, large-scale environments, enjoy driving enterprise-wide transformation, and are comfortable operating at the intersection of people, process and technology, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. Join us and play a meaningful role in shaping the future of coastal transportation—where the challenge is significant and the impact is lasting.
The Opportunity
Technology is changing how we work, how we serve our customers, and how we support the people who keep BC Ferries moving. As we implement new business capability to move the company forward, we’re looking for a Change Management Specialist to join our team and help turn transformation into meaningful, lasting change.
As a Change Management Specialist, you’ll play an important role in connecting transformation initiatives with the people who will bring them to life. Working across the entire organization, you'll partner with project teams, business leaders, stakeholders and front-line leaders across the organization to help them navigate change; from understanding who will be impacted and what needs to change, to building readiness, supporting adoption, and making sure new ways of working stick.
This is a role for someone who can see both the big picture and the people behind the change. You’ll bring structure to complex initiatives, build strong relationships across the organization, and use practical change management strategies to help projects move from implementation to successful adoption. Most importantly, you have passion and empathy for front line employees most impacted by change and believe in supporting them through creative and authentic ways.
If you’re someone who enjoys navigating complexity, building relationships and turning change strategies into practical action, we’d love to hear from you.
The Role
Reporting to the Vice President & Chief Information Officer, you contribute value through key areas of oversight such as:
Leading change planning and impact assessment
- Assessing the scope, scale, complexity and people impacts of change, and developing fit-for-purpose change strategies and integrated plans;
- Identifying impacted employee and interest-holder groups and assessing changes to roles, responsibilities, processes, behaviours, skills, technology, policies and ways of working;
- Identifying risks, barriers and readiness gaps, and recommending practical actions to support successful adoption.
Building engagement, readiness and adoption
- Developing and delivering engagement, communication and change activities that help employees understand, prepare for and adopt new ways of working;
- Defining learning, knowledge and performance support needs, and establishing change networks and other mechanisms to support implementation;
- Supporting sponsors and leaders by clarifying their change leadership roles, providing key messages and gathering feedback from impacted teams.
Measuring and sustaining change
- Defining and monitoring measures of readiness, adoption, proficiency and sustainment, using insights to refine change strategies and plans;
- Maintaining change deliverables, risks, decisions and lessons learned, and escalating sustainment risks where needed;
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of change management practices, tools and templates across the organization.
What you bring to the team
- A degree or diploma in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of experience leading organizational change initiatives that support successful project or program delivery
- 5+ yeas of experience working alongside project, program, or portfolio management teams
- Demonstrated success partnering with business areas such as Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Human Resources, Finance, and Information Technology
- Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, communication, and influencing skills
- The ability to assess complex situations, identify impacts, and develop practical solutions that support successful adoption and sustainment
Additional experience considered an asset includes:
- Developing and executing change measurement frameworks and adoption metrics
- Embedding change management practices within large programs, portfolios, or governance structures
- Supporting leaders and teams through significant delivery or organizational transformation initiatives
- Working within asset-intensive organizations
- Supporting large-scale capital, engineering, operational, or technology programs
